WATCH D.O.G.S.
(Dads Of Great Students) is a family and community engagement educational initiative.
WatchDOGS are fathers, grandfathers, uncles, and other father-figures who volunteer for at least one day each year at an official WATCH D.O.G.S. school.
Goals of a WATCH D.O.G.S.
-
To provide positive male role models for the students, demonstrating by their presence that education is important.
-
To provide extra sets of eyes and ears to enhance school security and reduce bullying.
A Typical WatchDOG Day
WatchDOGS perform a variety of tasks during their volunteer day including monitoring the school entrance, assisting with unloading and loading of buses and cars, monitoring the lunch room, or helping in the classroom with a teacher’s guidance by working with small groups of students on homework, flashcards, or spelling.
Copy Cats
If you have flexibility to volunteer during the school day, Copy Cats is perfect opportunity for you! These are workroom helpers that will assist with anything teachers need like copying, laminating, cutting, etc. All we ask is that you sign up and include a general time frame in the notes so we can make sure the school knows you are coming!
This volunteer opportunity will be in the workroom by the front office. We will have a clearly marked area for the projects where the teachers/staff will complete a request form with directions. There may be days where no projects are pending based on how far previous volunteers got on the projects.
*Certain days may not allow for volunteers (i.e. testing days) and those days will be removed when we learn of them!
